Business Development Associate

The Role:

The Business Development Associate attracts new clients and builds solid relationships while maintaining existing relationships. Other duties include market research, developing business strategies and pitches, managing various projects, and identifying new business opportunities. He/She will work with various departments and report to the Business Development Manager and Managing Director.

The position requires resourcefulness, organisation and motivation to increase sales, enhance the company’s reputation and look for new and creative ways to market our products. A background in sales or marketing is strongly desirable.

The Tasks:

  • Familiarise yourself with the company’s vision and mission, seeking to accomplish set goals
  • Conduct market research and identify potential clients
  • Cultivate strong relationships with new clients, while maintaining existing ones
  • Collate and maintain client information in the sales database
  • Work closely with staff across departments to implement growth strategies
  • Develop and implement sales strategies, client service and retention plans, and analyse sales data to inform or update marketing strategies
  • Assist with drafting business plans, sales pitches, presentations, reference material and other documents as required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Identify new business opportunities and partners
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various levels of management, staff and clients.

Entry Requirements:

  • A degree in Business Administration and Marketing or equivalent experience
  • A motor vehicle in good working order
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Copywriting & copyediting skills
  • Must demonstrate a problem-solver mentality; ability to anticipate and think critically; always seeking to improve oneself or internal systems & processes
  • Organisational – ability to handle multiple responsibilities at one time yet still get assignments completed on a timely basis
  • Strong Follow-Up Skills – follow-up may entail contacting both staff and clients
